New feature for room bookings and extended nutritional information

A new feature for room bookings will soon be added to the qnips ordering system. If the corresponding event permissions are activated in the dashboard, users will then have the option to book a room directly in addition to their pre-order. This simplifies the planning of conferences or meetings. Your guests can reserve a conference room with just a few clicks and pre-order snacks and drinks in the same booking.

Quickly edit images in the CP with the product photography feature

Special permissions can now be granted for certain users to edit product images in the app and Catering Portal. If you have activated the image license in the dashboard, this update gives you the option to provide users with product photography permissions. To do this, store the email addresses of the authorized persons in the dashboard in the corresponding menu plan in the "App settings" tab. They can then upload, replace or remove product images directly in the menu of the app or the catering portal.

Pick-up via QR code & payment via accounting unit

A new update has been implemented to the ordering feature in the Catering Portal. For pickup pre-orders at the company restaurant placed through the Catering Portal, a QR code (in addition to the order number) can be viewed in the order history of the respective user. In this way, the pickup process runs smoothly by scanning the QR code in the company restaurant. In addition, the option of payment by accounting unit can also be activated within the payment process.

More content for product detail pages & nutritional information

You will soon have the possibility to publish more content on your product detail pages and thus reach your customers even more specifically with relevant information. To do this, simply go to the respective product in the master data management in the dashboard and add more content under the tab "Identification & Additives". 

For more information, please contact us! 


In addition, we have expanded the nutritional information in the assortment management. You now have the option to provide additional information for products regarding vitamins, fiber, calcium, magnesium, iron and many more. All newly added nutritional information can be specified in units per 100gr.

New in the Catering Portal | Paypal+ & Thumbor

From now on you also have the possibility to integrate PayPal+ as a payment service provider in the Catering Portal. In addition to the well-known PayPal payment method, PayPal+ now also provides payment by direct debit, credit card and purchase on account. 

To set up PayPal+ or for more information simply contact your qnips contact person!


Since our last deploy, all images in the Catering Portal are loaded via a content delivery network and the Thumbor service. Thumbor is an intelligent image editing service. It enables the cropping, adjusting and mirroring of particularly large image files on demand. This integration has optimized loading speed, global availability, and image cropping for display in the Catering Portal.

We have extended our qnips importer interface!

With the integration of the qnips importer interface you enable an easy data exchange with your inventory management and POS system.

So far, you could automate the process of creating and updating weekly menus. Until now, this included the data transfer of menus, menu categories, assortment items, prices as well as allergens & additives. Thanks to the new extension of the qnips import interface, you can now automatically import additional data such as ingredients, product info, "sold out" options, VAT details and revenue accounts into the qnips system and thus save additional time when creating meal plans and assortments.

NEW | The qnips Webshop for Hardware & Equipment

Now it's even easier to set up a new location, because since Friday our new webshop is online! We support you not only with your desired solution for app and web, but also with the proper hardware on site at the point-of-sale!

As a registered Dashboard user you can now even easier view and order needed hardware & equipment online at qnips. Under the category "webshop" in the Dashboard you can now find all available digital signage displays, touch steles, order pickers, kitchen monitors and much more. A regular visit to the webshop is worthwhile, as we will regularly update and expand our product range!

New Menu PDF URL & Templating System Update

New URL for menu PDFs 

You may have noticed, we have changed our URL for the menu PDFs. We no longer use a direct link to qnips.blob.windows.net, but have recently started using the cdn3.qnips.com domain. Why? Because this way you can send your PDFs (even) faster and more securely to your clientele - also worldwide.  

New PDF Templating System in use 

Our new version of the PDF Templating "V2" has been in live operation for a short time. It works cloud-based and is now even faster, more advanced and more scalable!

Multilingualism for news dispatch

Up to now, only one language could be manually defined for the news dispatch. This language was selected from the languages in which the respective news content is maintained in the dashboard. After the adjustments for sending emails and push notifications, the system now also automatically recognises the respective language of use for sending news.  

This means that languages no longer have to be explicitly selected when sending news, but are automatically sent in the corresponding language that the users have set in the dashboard account. If a user language has not yet been maintained for the corresponding content, the system automatically falls back on the primary language of the partnership.

New settings and functionalities for dashboard admins

Advanced Brand Settings for Administrators 

As an administrator you will find a new tab in the qnips dashboard called "Brand Settings". From now on, you have the possibility to automatically activate newly registered users for the branches that are relevant for them. Based on the email domain and a defined tag, the branch is automatically assigned to and activated for the respective user during registration. 

In addition, you can individualise the prices for your meals for user groups. Accordingly, your guests will be shown different prices in the app or in the catering portal, based on the mail domain of the registered user. (This new function also only applies to newly registered users).   

Update in order reporting: Share reports & new permissions  

As an administrator, you now have the possibility to share order reports from the menu management with other dashboard users. In addition, you can now choose between a fixed or dynamic time period when creating a new report. With the fixed time period, you define a time period based on a specific date, like before. With the dynamic period, you can now choose from predefined periods such as "Tomorrow", "Last month" or "This week (from Monday)".  

In addition, you can assign individual permissions for the order reports to the dashboard users. For example, you can define which users are only allowed to read reports and which users are also allowed to select a time period for the report.
