qnips App Release – Version 2023.0 📲

We are #passionateaboutinnovation and therefore all apps of our customers get a bigger update from time to time!

Time to say goodbye 👋🏼
The app release version 2023.0 will be the last update in the current design!

Our apps have been a good basis for many new features in the past years - but it is time for an update. Step by step, the app screens will therefore appear in the new design with the next updates. With the redesign, we are not only implementing the latest technical standards, but also the new design standards of Android Material You, for example.


With the app release, the iOS & Android apps are now able to display the extended Eaternity labels! 

This requires an existing interface to the Eaternity database and the maintenance of the data and icons. Then, in addition to the carbon footprint, you can also display the impact of your dishes on water scarcity, health score, rainforest or animal welfare.

Pre-order & conveniently redeem coupons 🏆

All apps can now also automatically redeem coupons within the pre-order process if they are activated in the app. For example, your guests no longer have to run to the cash register themselves to pick up a punch card stamp, instead this benefit is automatically accounted for directly by the app.

New onboarding for Android users!

With the app release, the onboarding of the Android apps has the same design as the iOS apps:

Which meals are your guests' favourites? 💚

With the “Favourite Product” feature, your guests can mark meals as favorites in the apps or in the catering portal! 

For this purpose, the favorite food can be marked with a heart directly on the menu plan. If a meal has been marked as a favorite and is available again on a menu at a later date, the logged-in user will receive a push message informing them that their favorite meal is available again. Clicking on the notification takes the user directly to the corresponding dish in the menu and allows them to pre-order it.

You activate the feature in the app settings in the respective menu plan. Under the item "Favourites" you can select whether and when push notifications should be sent daily or weekly.

Advanced Display Of Opening Hours And Direct Selection For Order Time Slots

There is a new display for the opening hours of locations! 

Both in the apps and in the Catering Portal, the opening hours are now more present directly below the store image. There you will now find a display of status messages such as "opens on XY at AB" or "Closing soon". On the detail pages of the store, you will also find a current indication of whether the store is open or not. You can adjust the opening hours under "Edit store".

In addition, there is a new feature related to order time slots!

If you use time slots for orders in the dashboard and have made the corresponding app update, the user is shown a selection of time slots for ordering directly on the home screen of the app. The user can directly select the day and time for which he or she would like to place the order. According to the selection, only the food offers available for the time period are then displayed and the date and time are automatically saved for the further completion of the order. Order windows can be set in the Menu Manager under the tab "Orders".

Cancellations for orders & sequences for menu categories

You now have the possibility to activate a button for order cancellations!

The guest can then not only edit the order within the editing period, but also delete it completely with one click. As soon as you have checked the "Order editable by user" box in the order settings of the menu plan in the dashboard, an edit button appears in the order history in the catering portal. With a click, the order can be edited by the user or deleted completely.

Another improvement has been made in the automation of menus! 

You now can consider the order of the respective categories when importing menus. To do this, simply set a checkmark in the Menu Manager under the tab "Automation" for Menu Import "Consider the order of categories". You can then sort the imported categories in the corresponding tab as you wish using the drag & drop function on the right. This new order of the categories will then be taken into account the next time the menu is imported (Attention: the sorting is neither retroactive nor current for the existing menu).

Set authorisations for the order reporting journal

The order reporting journal has passed the beta phase! With the journal, you can carry out an evaluation of all relevant data on orders and cancellations. In addition, as an admin, you can now grant or withdraw authorisation for using the order reporting journal to dashboard accounts in the user administration. Thus, you can limit who is allowed to view the data reporting in the dashboard.

New pre-order notice on the product pages in the catering portal

On the detailed product pages, there is now additional information for users if a product cannot be pre-ordered. For example, the user receives a notification if he or she must first log in to place the order, if he or she must select a delivery date and time, or if the product is not currently available for ordering.

Scan & Go! | The new ePaper technology for a smooth process in the company restaurant

Scan - Pay - Enjoy – this is how you avoid long waiting times at the food counter. With the new ePaper technology, the dishes can be scanned directly at the buffet via the app. Through NFC, a contactless data exchange between the ePaper display and the app occurs. Thus, the dish automatically appears in the guests' shopping basket. The food can then be collected and the guest can pay comfortably at the table via app with a payment service provider of choice.

NEW | Blocking of app features (native apps only)

If you use the native android- and iOS-app, you now have the possibility to exclude user accounts from certain features of the app by means of a special update. Once this update is installed, you can edit the authorization of the respective user in the customer administration. Under the "Account" tab, you can set the corresponding check mark in the "block user" area. The users will then receive a notification via push and/or email about the blocked function. Set groups of preparation options for product categories

As recently described, you have the possibility to store preparation options for individual dishes in the master data management of the dashboard. For example, you can define the cooking level or the portion size for the preparation.

This feature has now been extended so that you can group the preparation options for specific product categories. In addition, you can then apply these groups to all sub-product groups with just one click. The preparation groups option can be found in the master data management either in the basic information of the product category or under the "Identifications & Additives" tab of the respective product.

Order reporting and evaluations now also possible by accounting unit!

Now that it is already possible to book pre-orders and transactions in the Catering Portal by cost center, order reporting has also been extended accordingly for the use of cost centers. The familiar functions and filters are now also available for evaluating the sales of your cost centers with the corresponding revenue accounts as well as the total and individual sales per cost center. Simply select the "Financial: Cost center" report in the order reporting section of the dashboard.
